Is your CV ready?

Ask any expectant mother (or father) and typically, they’ll understand the concept of the ‘grab-bag.’

For those who are unfamiliar with the phrase, the grab-bag is, (as the name implies), what you reach for when heading out the door on your way to the delivery suite and the impending arrival of your child.

It may be appropriate in these uncertain economic times to apply the grab-bag principle to your CV/Resume. OK, while you’ll likely have an idea when the baby is due to arrive (a theoretical due date at least) the same may not be true for the need for the CV.

Keeping your CV up-to-date is both prudent and a healthy habit to develop, one that can be done on an ongoing basis. It means that with the minimum of delay you can forward it to an interested recipient; additionally it focuses the mind on the skills, experience and potential you can offer a future employer.

Psychologically, being prepared gives peace of mind and helps instil confidence, essential ingredients when considering options and alternatives to being laid off.
