Nail bars up and down the country are likely to be inundated with clients this morning as those of us who witnessed this prodigious young man become the youngest F1 World Champion ever, seek to repair the self-inflicted damage.
It is testimony to Lewis’ dedication, hard work and natural talent that he has achieved this almost unbelievable result. Of course he could not have done it alone; Lewis’ father Anthony and the wider family have all played a part, as have the superb team from McLaren, Mercedes and beyond.
As I reflect this morning on the scale of the achievement and wonder about the future, I can only imagine what potential lies untapped and the number of trophies and accolades that await this young man.
So what lessons can we lesser mortals can take from Lewis’ result?
- When you have identified your talent, nurture it.
- Seek out those who also value it.
- Pursue your talent because it is the one thing that separates you from everyone else.
- Develop a mechanism that enables you to cope with others’ rejection, (mostly, other people do not see the talent they have, never mind the talent of others.)
- Learn how to present your talent in such a way that others will see it and want to benefit from it.
- As you achieve more success, continue to re-invest in yourself; work to continuously improve in order to keep ahead of the pack.
- Perhaps most significantly when you are lucky enough to find people you can trust, take good care of them, they will help keep you on the right path.
Finally, congratulations Lewis, you deserve the success, enjoy the sunshine!
